Who me? Blog?

So, some time ago I decided that blogs were a waste of time. Having never actually read one, that was a classic Connie blanket statement. (shame on me!) I criticized my husband for reading some and told him I thought reading them was a waste of "family" time (time lavished on me) and that writing them must be an even bigger waste of time!

Okay, don't leave yet. I didn't mean you, honestly!

I have obviously changed my mind since I'm writing my first post ever on my very own blog. I have a dear friend, Jen, that I've known since Kindergarten who began a blog a long time ago and I finally thought " you know, she's a journalist and I've known her for twenty-five years and I really respect her so I think I'll just read hers." It was moving and a TON of fun to keep up with her and her family through her very witty blog.

Then more and more of my friends like Erin, Wendy, and Emily all started writing blogs and I began to feel left out. Not really, but I did surprisingly begin to see the value in reading their thoughts and struggles and just plain funny stories. I learned things that I didn't know and got to see pictures that I wouldn't have seen otherwise. Maybe this blogging thing isn't such a waste of time, maybe it's a real wonder of the 21th century!!!

The clincher was when I discovered all the lovely ladies that are as crazy addicted to sewing and crafting as I am and their very inspiring blogs. Like this one,this one and this one. These blogs not only challenge and inspire me in crafting but I'm inspired by seeing them loving their families and serving their friends and living life just like I am.

So the real value I'm finding out, is that my little life here in my small town and house is not all that there is. I can draw from women all around this great country that I would never meet otherwise and find a commonality that is beautiful and super fun. I've been lurking around all the blogs I read and am going to make myself known at last. I am excited to begin to keep track of all the craziness that is my life and maybe, just maybe, be able to actually enrich my life from...... you guessed it, blogging! :)
