My seven year old just finished reading The Josephina Story Quilt and completed the study guide that went with it from progeny press. (I love these study guides as a resource for a reading unit) We have decided to take advantage of our home schooling and make our own story quilt. We won't be creating handcrafted patches depicting a journey, but we did choose fabrics that were leftover from special things we had made for people we love.( Maybe a few of you recognize some of this fabric?) Hailey selected each one and I helped her cut it up and then she arranged it into the quilt top you see below. I will be showing Hailey the basics of sewing as we assemble this mini quilt and hopefully be drawing her into a hobby that I love as well! My Grandma Martha used to babysit me when I was little and she would help me make scrap quilts for my dolls on this ancient pump sewing machine. I have such a strong memory of these times even though my Grandma died when I was 11. I want those same memories to be passed down to my little girl. I'll post some pics of the finished product this week! That's good accountability to finish this project quickly!

way to go, Connie! You're an awesome home-school-mom and a great seamstress. Hailey is blessed to have a mom willing to spend such quality time with her! I can't wait to see the finished product!
