Rowenta: love or hate

Here's the newest member of my sewing room! I've been wanting a new iron for some time. I had a shark and it just wasn't doing the job. Not to mention it leaked horribly and got my clothing and projects all wet so I couldn't steam anything! Not cool, or hot. Anyway, it finally died the other day and I got to use some of my money from my little esty shop sales to purchase a new one. Rowenta has been a brand I've coveted forever and snatched up the deal I saw at Costco as soon as I could. I excitedly opened the box, plugged it in and turned the setting to the cotton/ linen, then I stupidly took the iron and decided to iron a zipper flat before I began my project. BAD IDEA!!!! It instantly melted the zipper to the iron and I had a huge gunky, melted mess on my brand new iron!!!! Why did I do this ridiculous thing to my new beauty? Because, I had been using such a sub par model for so long and even on it's hottest setting it was not so hot. I was not used to the scorching power of shiny new Rowenta. So instead of happily beginning my project I had to go look up how to get melted zipper off my iron plate. (warm it up and scrape it clean with a Popsicle stick, in case you were wondering) Boo.

Can you see the mark it left on my poor newbie?
Am I happy with my Rowenta? I think so. But while I was reading through how to fix my mistake, I read all these bad reviews that said how much some people hate Rowenta and I should save my money if I want to buy one. UH-OH. Why didn't I do more research instead of just buying the brand that I've heard is fabulous? Because I'm a follower. I can't help but get sucked into what everyone else says is true. But lets be fair. So far my iron hasn't been given a real chance, so far it's only failing has been user error. Ahem. So I'm going to forget about the bad reviews an go back to being extremely happy with my purchase until it gives me a legitimate reason to feel otherwise!
