Hey! So there has been some MAJOR changes happening in the Libby house this year and I haven't really said too much about it. I have struggled with what and how much is okay to share about becoming a foster parent. There is a lot of privacy surrounding the whole situation, and rightly so. It's taken me awhile to figure that out although there are lots of things I cannot share, (the name of our baby, pictures, details about the case or the baby's family) I have decided I can share how I'm feeling about this adventure. I want to talk about the impact it's having on our family and share the struggles and joys that we are experiencing as we embark on this amazing ministry.
So I'm starting Fostering Fridays here on the blog to talk about my experience, answer questions, inform you about the need for people to stand up for these hurting kids and the prayer and support foster families need to continue to minister to these little ones.
there's an extra set of toes around here |
Am I writing about this so you will tell me how great I am for fostering?
No way.
We are a normal family who feel the call of God on our lives to be involved in this area of ministry. Do I think everyone should be a foster family?
No.
If we all did this ministry who would do the others? We are all one body but we are not supposed to all be the eye or the hand. We each play a different role in living out Christ's desire for our lives.
1 Corinthians 12:11-13
"But one and the same Spirit works all these things, distributing to each one individually just as He wills.
For even as the body is one and yet has many members, and all the members of the body, though they are
many, are one body, so also is Christ."
But if you are thinking about fostering and need some encouragement, or if you know a foster family and want to know more about how to support them, then I want to supply that information if I can. I know we all can pray. Pray for this broken world and the poor children who get lost in the shuffle. Pray for the families God has prompted to stand up and fill in the gap, that we can make a difference in just one more little life.
If you have any question, feel free to comment or email me at conniealibby@gmail.com I'm not an expert and I'm fairly new at this (only 8 months) but I'll do my best to tell you what I know or point you to someone who can answer.
Russ and I love this song. Every time it comes on the radio I start to cry. There is a lost world out there that need to know the power of His name!

This is a great idea and I look forward to hearing more of your thoughts all about this journey you're on!
And stinkin' adorable picture of all the little toes :)
Your such a faithful servant!! So wonderful that you and Russ have been going on this journey along with your own children...teaching them what it means to sacrifice and love others! Love the picture of the cute toes!!
Love this Connie. I told Billy about it and may be talking to you about possibly linking to it from the foster care website they've created.
