Summer's bounty

We had a marvelous summer dinner tonight out on the patio. BBQ chicken, mashed potatoes, corn on the cob, and sauteed green beans. The coolest part was that the corn and beans were from our garden. My husband loves to dig around and baby our tiny crop of vegetables. He is always out there weeding (which he says relaxes him) and checking on the progress of our little strip of plants. He was especially pleased that some of our dinner was from his efforts and they were very good! See I told you he is green! Sustainable living in our own backyard.

Awesome! So here's a question for your gardener husband: how do you know when carrots are ready to be picked? I have some in our garden too and I have no idea if I should pick them yet or not!

I will get you some green beans soon then Erin and I will ask Russ about the carrots and have him fill you in Jen!

@ Jen...pick the carrots when they are big enough...or when you are hungry enough. If they start to have weird looking greens you waited too long and they will be bitter.
