Amos the cat

We have a cat. We had decided that we really aren't a pet family. But then this funny thing happened. Russell's brother bought this cat for his wife even though he is allergic to cats. They had handled it pretty well for about a year but now that they are expecting baby number four, the cat and the sneezing and the litter box was just too much for them. We cat sat for them over Christmas vacation and fell in love with Amos. I told them if they ever wanted to get rid of him to give him to us. How nice that that worked out for me! So now we have a cat. And we LOVE him. We didn't want to just get any old cat that might not be cuddly or nice to kids so we felt lucky that we got to"test drive" a pet and make sure he was a good fit for our family!

And the real test is that my husband, a self proclaimed pet hater, simply adores this cat. I think we have a keeper. He's just one of the family now. Thanks David and Rachel for giving us such a great pet!

He's such a pretty cat!! I watched the video at first without sound, and was a bit disturbed to see Hailey drinking a bottle of Dr. Pepper with her breakfast cereal! You never know what families are doing behind closed doors. You think you know a person! :) I'm glad you clarified that it was her dinner. I feel better now...

Oh, my girls are going to be SO jealous. We've been talking about the pet thing a lot lately, and I'm feeling like I am just not a pet person, it's too much work, etc....but the girls would really like one. Decisions, decisions.

I always think it's so strange when someone swears off pets though allergies are understandable. I personally don't think I could live without one. Buster, our Spaniel, has been a great companion to Geoffrey through the years before we had Toadie and now he is wonderful with both boys. I'm glad you have such an amenable pet though.

How fun to have a cat! I really do miss my kitties-too much work with little ones! Maybe when they get older we can get another cat. Glad you're enjoying him!

SO glad that he's a fit for your family! And that you got to try him out before too! I can't wait to meet him, he is a pretty cat, and I am not a cat-lover! :)
